Today in Prague it started at a “balmy” 7 degrees. Hence, when you are invited to have lunch in an 12th century converted wine cellar – 3 floors down a steep staircase, you say yes!
Upon entering the space you are met with warm lights and subtle music. When you listened a little closer you realise that the music is actually slow versions/cover songs from various hits from the past.
The menu provided both traditional Czech meals, as well as some Mediterranean options and steakhouse options as well.
Main Course:
Tiger Prawns with Cherry tomatoes on a pasta base with a cream sauce
Traditional Beef Goulash with dipping breads
The staff were warm and friendly as well. Our waiter liked to joke around, but you could tell he was good at drumming up business. Upon ordering our drinks, he jokingly asked “why order a glass of wine, when you can have the bottle?”
Dessert:Trio of icecream and chocolate fondant.
I’m very picky about my fondant’s. Most places I go to either, over cook it, so there is no sauce in the middle or it’s just not a real fondant at all (it’s closer to a stiff mousse). This place nailed it! It was warm, with vanilla icecream on the side and when you cut into it, the chocolate centre just oozed out.
This restaurant is also in the centre of Prague and converts into a bar at night. A must see/do/eat
