What’s the perfect activity for a cold and sunny day? I’m sure there are many answers to this question. But for me there is only one answer…head to Marrickville and check out the breweries.
In Marrickville there is about 7 or so craft breweries and tasting rooms within about a 5 min walk of each other. This past Saturday, I decided to venture to Batch – one of the first to pop up in Marrickville and one of the most popular……for good reason.

Batch has a small area for people to sit and drink and a food truck parked out the front. They also have an extensive tasting menu.

And beer to take home

My beer of choice, you ask? No. 9 on the tasting menu: Elsie the Milk Stout. Smooth, creamy and a dark and rich taste. Perfect for a winter /autumn afternoon.

I also tried a new beer – No. 3 on the menu: Beastie Boysenberry. This one is a sour ale. Try not to be put off by its’ appearance. Yes, it looks like a creaming soda, but it tastes great!

The food trucks at Batch change on a regular basis, so there is a good chance of being able to try something new each time you visit.
This past weekend, I tried Beefed Up burgers. Good beef burgers and they offer chicken wings as well.

I tried the Cali Cheese burger. It’s the only one on the menu with lettuce – so I get point for attempting to be healthy.
The burger was really nice and not HUGE for once! So many burger restaurants and bars offer delicious burgers, but they are ENOURMOUS and for someone like me with an average sized mouth – it’s nice to not have to try and dislocate it so that I can eat.

Overall though, a great afternoon out. Highly recommended for beer enthusiasts.
